The Ageless Playbook

Making it for the right reasons

It arrived on a Monday afternoon.

I'd been working on content, building and iterating, and out of nowhere, I caught myself asking a question.

Am I doing this because I genuinely want someone's life to get better? Or am I doing this because I want to prove I can?

And then the honest part.

When someone posts a positive comment, it is genuinely empowering. I noticed that. I didn't dismiss it. The discomfort wasn't about what the answer was. It was about catching the question at all, mid-process, on a random afternoon.

Because the thing I build content around is this: most of us spend years outsourcing our sense of enoughness to external validation without recognising that's what we're doing.

Waiting for proof from people who don't deserve that much influence over how we feel about ourselves.

Here I was, mid-build, doing exactly that. The very pattern I write about, running in real time, in my own work.

Not as a crisis. Just as an honest observation.

The fact that I caught it is the distance the work creates.

A year ago, I wouldn't have noticed. I'd have just been in it.

The noticing isn't a solution, and it isn't a test you pass once and then you're done.

It's what the work actually looks like in practice. You catch yourself inside the programme you thought you'd dealt with. You name it and keep going.

That's what this looks like from the inside.

The person I'm trying to reach isn't watching someone who has already solved the thing they're describing.

They're watching someone who is still inside it, who catches it happening, and who doesn't pretend otherwise.

I thought it was worth saying.

If any of this landed for you, reply and tell me what the question was.
